Sandra Bland’s alleged suicide by hanging in a Waller County, Texas, jail cell on July 13 sparked suspicion of foul play from her family members and advocates Bland was 28 years old.
Kindra Chapman died under similar circumstances. The 18-year-old’s death by asphyxiation in a Homewood, Alabama, jail cell was ruled a suicide Monday by a Jefferson County coroner — a conclusion with which Chapman’s family agrees, despite some outside suspicion.
Joyce Curnell, 50, was found dead in a North Charleston, South Carolina, jail cell on July 22. She was arrested for an outstanding bench warrant for shoplifting, and was seen at a local hospital the day before her death.
Ralkina Jones died Sunday by yet undetermined means at a Cleveland Heights, Ohio, jail. Police said she’d looked “lethargic” in her cell beforehand and was being shuttled back and forth from a local hospital the night she died. Jones was 37.
Raynetta Turner, a 43-year-old mother of eight, was found dead in a jail cell Monday in Mount Vernon, New York. Turner, who had been arrested for shoplifting at a food and restaurant supplier, also had multiple medical problems and was taken to a local hospital shortly after her arrest.
If you’re looking for a video with captions, here’s one. So sad that a life was lost for no reason. It needs to be a national law that body cameras are required..without a video it would be 3 cops vs. a dead man. We all know how that would have turned out…..
Careful for anyone who has violence triggers. Don’t watch. You can read about this tragedy if you check the Sam DuBose tag on here.

12 years ago today my grandma was murdered. she was stabbed 46 times to her death by a white supremacist. her killer is still in jail but will get out soon . i took this photo on mother’s day, the day before she was killed.
she is getting out in 4 years. she will get to enjoy a life while my grandmother will not, while the rest of us who survived will never live a complete, happy life. she took everything from me. 16 years is not a punishment fitting a pre-meditated hate crime.
The bodies of two Tampa teenagers were discovered Thursday morning on a roadside in Duval County.
Angelia Mangum, 19, and Tjhisha Ball, 18, were found about 1 a.m., according to law enforcement. A witness told Jacksonville news station WJAX the teenagers were bound with zip ties and lying on top of one another.
“Two witnesses were driving by and they saw bodies and they called 911," Sgt. T.K. Waters told news station WJXT.
Officers were dispatched to Sisson Drive, near the intersection of Main Street North and Clark Road.
Investigators suspect foul play and are trying to determine the causes of death.
"They were in an area where they would have been noticed, so I think it was fairly recently since they’d been left there,” Waters also told WJXT.
A medical examiner has taken the bodies to determine the cause of death.
"I just don’t understand what happened,” Ball’s sister, Crystal Moore, said.
According to Moore, both women had been living in the Jacksonville area off and on for approximately a year and a half.
“I feel like sometimes that I failed,” Ball’s mother, Jerlean Moore, said. “What could I have done? What could I have taught her better? It hurts…it really hurts.”
It’s a pain that’s only worsened by the fact that no one has been caught.
let’s care just as much about black girls being murdered as we do about black boys. signal boost.
i want everybody to pay attention to the fact that news article includes their criminal history. “Mangum had two outstanding warrants on charges of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, according to law enforcement. Ball was arrested in April for having no valid driver’s license.”
i want everybody to really take note of that. real close attention.
And a lot of people are pretty much dismissing their murders because of their alleged profession. This is why people need to stop dehumanizing women based on sexualization. People are getting away with murdering Black women. They are victims. And I want answers, their killers don’t deserve to get off, idc what kind of lifestyle they led. They deserve justice.
Why is there still so little information on this case!? These were teenagers who were brutally murdered and their corpses were just dumped like trash.
This is fucking ridiculous.
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT KIND OF ATTENTION THIS WOULD GET IF THEY WERE WHITE GIRLS?! NATIONAL IN DEPTH FUCKING ATTENTION. WITHOUT A DOUBT.
Wayne County Circuit Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway dismissed an involuntary manslaughter charge against the Detroit police officer accused in the 2010 fatal shooting of 7-year-old Aiyana Stanley-Jones, reports the Detroit Free Press.
As previously reported by NewsOne, Officer Joseph Weekley failed to follow his training when he stormed a house looking for a murder suspect with his finger on the trigger and shot Aiyana who was asleep on the couch, according to prosecutors.
All sides acknowledge that Aiyana Stanley-Jones’ death was not intentional. But prosecutors say Officer Joseph Weekley’s actions were a crime because he handled his submachine gun in a reckless manner.
“You have to use ordinary care in the exercise of your duties,” prosecutor Rob Moran said. “He didn’t follow ordinary care. … If he didn’t pull the trigger, Aiyana would be alive.”
Here’s the opportunity to prove that black girls lives matter as much as black boys lives.
Where is the national movement against this judge who dropped the charges against the cop who killed seven-year-old Aiyana Stanley-Jones as she lay on a couch in her home? Where is the demand from the people that the cop be locked up?
A cop who was frontin’ for the cameras of the reality series that was being filmed at the time, who was all gassed up on that “Look at me! I’m a cop on TV” shit and wound up killing our baby girl.
They charged him with some bullshit-ass, slap-on-the-wrist “involuntary manslaughter” and not even that shit could stick.
Baby girl is dead.
And there’s not a whisper or a tear.
I don’t believe it when people say they love black girls.
I have zero evidence of that assertion.

A COP KILLS A 7 YEAR OLD LITTLE CHILD WHO WAS SLEEPING ON A FUCKING COUCH
[DECEMBER 4, 2014] Police were investigating the death of a 21-year-old transgender woman who was gunned down while pounding on the front door of a Compton home seeking help.
Deshawnda Sanchez was shot around 4 a.m. Wednesday on the porch of a home near Wilton Place and 62nd Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
“She was definitely at that door pounding on that door seeking help,” LAPD Detective Christopher Barling said.
The occupant of the home came outside after hearing multiple gunshots but it was too late.
A neighbor’s surveillance camera captured part of the incident. Police were not releasing the video which apparently showed someone pulling up to the house in a vehicle, getting out and running up to the porch. The figure could then be seen running back to the vehicle and driving away, police said.
“The footage, it was heartbreaking,” said Diana Williams, the victim’s sister
Detectives believe Sanchez was running away from a robber when she was shot, but said they were not ruling anything out.
“Deshawnda is a transgender female. At this point we cannot say it’s a hate crime but we have not ruled out that as being a possibility,” Barling said. [source]
This is so tragic. My heart goes out to her and those she loved. I hope Deshawnda gets the justice she deserves. #TransLivesMatter #BlackLivesMatter
this hits close … i have two friends who were friends of hers … another bright light extinguished for no reason
A father of four was killed Tuesday night while returning home with food for his children.
The incident left an unidentified white officer unharmed and unarmed Rumain Brisbon, 34, dead with two bullet wounds in his torso at a north Phoenix apartment complex.
According to Phoenix police, the officer was responding to a suspected drug deal when he came in contact with Rumain. The driver, later identified as Rumain, exited his car and seemed to remove something from the rear of the SUV.
Brandon Dickerson, who was in the car with Brisbon shortly before the shooting and witnessed some of the incident, said he never saw the officer try to talk with Brisbon.
Still, the officer drew his gun and pointed it at Brisbon, causing him to flee from fear. The officer chased him on foot and ‘a struggle ensued’ when he caught up.
“During the struggle, Brisbon put his left hand in his pocket and the officer grabbed onto the suspect’s hand, while repeatedly telling the suspect to keep his hand in his pocket,“ he said. ”The officer believed he felt the handle of a gun while holding the suspect’s hand in his pocket.”
A woman inside an apartment opened a door at that moment, and the officer and Brisbon tumbled inside, Crump said. Two children, ages 9 and 2, were in their bedroom. The officer then shot Rumain twice in the torso.
The item in Brisbon’s pocket turned out to be prescribed pills.
The media smear campaign has already begun. Brisbon was previously convicted for a burglary that occurred in 1998 and spent 5 years on probation. Although this has nothing to do with the shooting, the media is working hard to slander Rumain’s name.
Defend him and all POC mercilessly killed by racist police.
