when i became pregnant with Little Bear I went to the thrift store and bought every book I could find on parenting, child development, and child education. I read over 100 books. Then I took parenting classes. Then I took over 20 classes on parenting, child development, and child education. I did my own research and if and when I still didn’t understand I paid an instructor to help me understand. I didn’t go online and demand parents to educate me. After years of discussing cultural appropriation and racism I refused to continue a conversation with one person, only one person, and now white people are complaining about it. saying that i am not allowed to give my opinion unless I devote time to show proof to each individual. umm no. it doesn’t work that way. No one is obligated to educate their oppressors. You can do your own homework. If someone tells you what you did/said was racist research why that is. We are not your private tutors.
I devote hours of my personal time in attempt to give information to potential allies; however, my priority is to be here to help Native peoples and persons of color. I repeat the same things over and over again. If you truly want to learn there are hours worth on posts you can look at on my blog. There are countless blogs with better and more understandable information on tumblr. There are ample resources out there.

There will always be white people waiting for me to refuse to engage with harmful white people and use that as an excuse to not learn.
