How do you feel about the american girl doll Kaya?

Answer

To be honest, I am not familiar with American Girls and after having gone to the website (I) the part I find problematic is that Kaya, a “Nez Perce” character doll, is in the era section. While there can be nothing wrong with writing books, and then creating a doll character, of a specific era, it can be problematic when the only Native American doll is a person from the past, “1764”. If there were more dolls in this collection with present day Native American dolls then I would be less concerned. So often when I see toys, books, media, etc, about Native Americans it is usually past tense. One doesn’t see modern Native American dolls as often as one see blonde hair, blued eyed, white dolls. It is annoying to have only one doll represent an entire race, especially while the American Girl series has multiple white characters, and it is annoying to be considered a thing-of-the-past.
