racist jokes are jokes and yes harmful, BUT they’re light hearted jokes. Shane makes fun of everything, and if you were to watch some of his older videos, he’s made fun of taylor swift, justin bieber, one direction, lady gaga..
so you’re saying POC can make fun of whites, but comedians can’t make a joke about POC? makes sense..
when a person from an oppressive group insults a person from an oppressed group it is more harmful than if a person from an oppressive group insults another person from an oppressive group. Did he make racist jokes again Swift, Bieber, Lady Gaga, etc? Or are his racist jokes reserved for people of color? Even if he made jokes about white people it would not be harmful, not on any level close to being as harmful as a white person making racist jokes against a person of color. Why are you more concerned with his feelings, a person who promotes racism, than the people he is promoting racism against?
yes he did make racist jokes against jb, gaga, taylor, etc. since it’s white on white that doesn’t apply to racism? he’s not insulting them, he’s poking fun of things he’s witnessed. it’s no different than if i say “when i get my make up done by a girl of color, they try to make me look darker than i am..and it’s annoying” is that racist? no, it’s personal experience and something that is proved over and over again.
and i’m concerned for both, people need to chill and like laugh it off..and you don’t have to like someone to relate to them. xx
i don’t think acts of racism should be laughed off. i don’t think you should be relating to a racist person. If you are concerned about the people he promotes racism against why didn’t you post about it? I have only seen posts defending Dawson.

you can still be racist while dating a woman of color. you can still promote racism while dating a woman of color. you can still uphold white supremacy while dating a woman of color. I hope, for her sake, that you take a moment to realize you are defending a racist, attempting to silence people of color, and are promoting racism.
Shane Dawson promotes that all Black people are thugs and ghetto, that is not a joke. He dresses in black/brownface and uses the N-word repeatedly. He also uses the F-slur repeatedly.There is nothing lighthearted about perpetuating stereotypes about persecuted races. Black/brown face has been used for years to demean black and brown people
If someone like that is your hero, you need to reevaluate your morals.
