With the advent of the tragedy of Micheal Brown, I think it finally cements the true power of the internet and how invaluable it is when it comes to standing against oppression. If we didn’t have this online infrastructure we wouldn’t know the true story and the reality of the peaceful protests in Ferguson. The web puts the reality of what people see and immortalizes it in cyber space.
At this point, anyone who denies online activism and what a boon it is to real life situations, is going to immediately be dismissed.
I have the utmost respect for those risking there lives to go against injustice because it has to be very imposing, snipers, gas, men in riot gear edging on the crown just so they have an excuse to mow them down, nothing but respect for those who can stand in the face of that.
