White people have forced assimilation on many cultures; including my own. It is not safe for Native women to wear their traditional clothing because they are targeted by white men who fetishize them as primitive sex objects. Our cultures were forced into change by white people; therefore, white people cannot complain if anyone has adopted a culture that was forced onto them.
There is a difference between forced assimilation and cultural appropriation.
