I’m glad to see that mainstream and powerful people/orgs in NDN country are finally taking a stand for a real, actual inquiry into missing and murdered women.
But the fact that it took the death of a white-passing conventionally attractive university student to spur it is making me want to smash things.
that’s what i thought when i first saw her picture. She deserves attention, but where is the attention for thousands of other Indigenous women? Maybe I am of the wrong mindset but every adult native woman i know have been raped, my grandma (who is not white passing Native woman) was murdered by a blonde haired, blue eyes, white supremacist woman and her story was never told, never all over the internet. I think about all the women who get no attention.. I am glad Loretta is getting attention; I just wish she weren’t the only one.
