Racial stereotypes can be dehumanizing. It turns people from X group into this one idea, one character. Characters become subhuman and when a group is viewed as subhuman violence and oppression against that group is inevitable. If someone has a stereotype about a person from X group that someone would be less likely to feel compassionate towards the person from X group. This lack of compassion is dangerous.
