do you think that is somewhat victim-playing?

Answer

Perhaps? Unintentionally, perhaps. I am too often selfish and too often pity myself but what good does that serve anyone else? Recognizing my white privilege is not supposed to benefit me; it is supposed to benefit those who do not have these privileges. Feeling accepted, a sense of belonging, is irrelevant; while so many have so much less than that. I acknowledge my white privilege because to deny it is to hurt other people. I cannot deny that I play the victim; racism and entitlement is a part of my life. But again, this is not about me. Nothing is about me. Nothing should be about me.
