I’m so sick of white “hipstery” artists (Lorde, Macklemore) being critical of the assumed materialism of hip hop culture (and by extension Black people) without being critical of the “American Dream”, the boot straps myth, and capitalism in general. But that’s too profound for them, they’d end up critiquing the very system that’s got them spots on the billboard’s top 100. Can’t have that.
