You see, I’d care about racism if it affected my people. If it was a double edged sword. But you guys make racism into a single edged one, with the edge constantly pointing towards us. Why should we support such a policy? We are not masochists. Sure it would be nice of us but we have problems of our own with all these prejudice-killings going on.
1. Racism does affect white people; racism benefits white people so it does affect you.
2. “You guys make racism into a single edged one (sword).” White people are the ones who created racism and are the ones applying it (systematically, institutionally, and individually) so how are you trying to claim that people of color are controlling the racism-sword?
3. How is the edge of the sword pointed towards you? In what universe are you the victim?
You use your magical word to get what you want. Being labeled a racist can ruin your career. This is what I mean when I say it is a sword. A weapon that they regularly use against us. Why would any sane oppressor give such a thing to the oppressed?
I can list many celebrities who haven’t lost their careers for doing and saying racist things. I could list political leaders who haven’t lost their careers for doing and saying racist things. So on and so forth. Being a racist is promoted, not punished. And let’s pretend that you are right; let’s say that people who are racist lose their jobs when they get called out on their racism. Okay? I don’t see a problem with that. Are responsibility and accountability so foreign to you that you think it is a weapon? All I am hearing is you defending racist white people.
