You proves my point by saying that there are people that deserve hate, which is false. While I recognize that you right now are not using hate, I have experienced an onslaught of hate and death threats before on this site for over a month so I have a basis. And the reasons (generally) that oppressors oppress (unless they are a government or source of power, I’m talking about your average person) is because no one had ever taken the time out of there own life to explain to them the error of their ways. Yes people are responsible for their own actions. However if they were never made aware that what they are saying is hate, they will continue to do so until they are educated on said issue. If you are going to be an activist for a cause, you better learn that it is your job to educate people and not degrade them.
I disagree. I think oppressive people are oppressive because they enjoy their position of power, and that by dehumanizing marginalized groups they can assuage their guilt and justify their actions, If it was as easy as someone pulling someone aside and nicely telling them they are being harmful and oppressive, and that made them stop, then there would be no current oppression of several groups.
