Okay… On Tumblr I read a ton about race representation. This post is not about sides, wrong or right… just personal experience…

When I was younger, I really did not see race. I honestly, just saw other kids, other people. Many say that the over representation of white people in children’s movies…

Do you realize that pretending to be “color-blind” is an act of racism? I have worked in several preschools, toddler and infant programs, after school day cares, and in elementary schools; and all the children I knew saw race. The toddlers would grab another child’s arm and stare for a while, lacking the verbal skills to question the difference. We discussed race in all these programs because we want to celebrate every person. We cannot celebrate children while disregarding their skin color, or pretending not to see it. Seeing race is not the problem. Erasing, dehumanizing, exploiting, and oppressing people is the problem.
