p1This is something I've been wondering a while, and I figured you might be able to answer it better than some. I'm a bit confused about the definition of Indigenous, because as far as I know, in terms of people anyway, it means someone who is native to that land. But then I see people complaining about, say, Irish people, who are Indigenous to those lands, and they complain of racism and oppression FROM the Irish to someone else who came to Ireland, and I just don't understand why Irish aren't
p2 why the Irish aren’t usually considered an Indigenous people to Ireland in those discussions. Just wondering why, and what the definition of Indigenous is if it’s not simply that a person native to that particular territory (like the Irish in Ireland).   I am sorry to say that I cannot answer this, as anything I could say would be an ignorant opinion, at best. I am not familiar with Ireland, it’s history, or it’s people. I could only venture to suggest that you research where white people originated from, their expansion, and the histories of immigration and emigration. I am interested in learning more about this so if you would like we could discuss this further, as I would like to research this and perhaps bounce ideas and resources off of each other.
