I don't agree with white author anon's analogy because Reza Aslan, iirc, is a (formerly evangelical Christian) scholar who published a book about the historical figure of Christ, not necessarily Christianity itself, and Christ is also an important figure in the Quran and therefore, IMHO, not off-limits to a Muslim writer. It is not an appropriate comparison to white writers of fiction trying to portray poc characters based on their own inaccurate ideas of what that would entail.
