How about instead of yelling at people for accidental intolerance we just talk to them calmly and explain to them why what they said or did was wrong? ‘Cause it’s only natural to respond to hostility with hostility.
“accidental intolerance”
listen sometimes people haven’t been educated enough to know that something is wrong and maybe ignorance is a better word than accidental intolerance but the point still stands that that crying white girl will be more receptive to being taught why she was wrong than screamed at for something she never knew was an issue
like tumblr has taught me a lot about diversity but none of it was learned by absorbing what people were screaming at me for
Lexi actually understood what I was saying, thank you.
I hope you get a chance to research the term “tone policing”.
I get your point on “tone policing”, but I’m just trying to say that people should not be attacked for being ignorant.
Note I said ignorant, not “being an asshole” like MRAs. Cause they fucking know better.
If you had to explain to people everyday not to hurt you, wouldn’t you get tired of it? Would your patience snap? Wouldn’t you be thinking “you should know better!”, “google it if you don’t understand!”, and “It’s not my job to make all of you better, more tolerant people!”? It is bad enough (for lack of a better expression) to be subjected to oppression, racism, and violence, but then to have to educate those who hurt you just adds to that pain.
