Last night, this sign went up at a McAdory High School football game.
I am absolutely disgusted that this sign was allowed to go up, and that it was not stopped by school administrators, and that after this, no one has mentioned it.
The school and the students have shown no remorse for the sign (as expected) and the students have claimed ignorance and/or that it was just a “joke”.
Sorry, but the Indian Removal Act of 1830 and the death of thousands of Native Americans is not a fucking joke.
(Image description: football banner being held up which reads, “Hey Indians, get ready to leave in a Trail of Tears Round 2”)
WHAT THE FUCK. Signal boost, some people need to get fired for this shit.
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW, LIKE REALLY, ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS, I FUCKING HATE EVERYTHING.
This is disgusting.
"Signal boost this shit"
No one fucking cares what a bullshit high school does for their stupid football games.
Quit “signal boosting” about offensive stupidity and maybe (sit down, this one may cause some vertigo) actually DO something PRODUCTIVE.
^ because internet activism isn’t productive??? Go sit down and think about how wrong you are.
Bitching about a bunch of stupid highschoolers making a stupid sign, as stupid people tend to do, isnt activism. It just allows people to pat themselves on the back even more and say to themselves “oh man, I signal boosted the shit out of that. Im helping the world. Im so awesome”. Using the internet to overthrow governments is activism. Using the internet to show the evils that people try to hide from the world is activism. THIS isnt activism, this just boosts the already massive ego tumblr has and its pathetic and the people who think it is are pathetic. So again, please go do something productive.
To all those duders angry about this:
GO BITCH IN REAL LIFE, NOT ON TUMBLR.
That is all.
the internet is a useful tool that can reach places that sometimes would not be reached; for example, let’s say that this incident was on the news in their town/area but no one else heard about it because we do not watch that specific news channel. That doesn’t make it any less harmful. The internet is a useful educational tool that can help us communicate with each other all over the world. Online activism is important and can make a difference.
And by ignoring the real point which is this is racist and not okay, and arguing that we are not arguing in a way you find acceptable is belittling this situation. You are helping to down play these acts of racism by pointing the finger at the victims and those offended by it.
