I'm watching The Lone Ranger where Johnny Depp is playing the Native American Tonto, is he racist for playing a Native American character?

He is promoting racism against Native Americans. The costume he wears in that movie is an inaccurate stereotype and he is wearing a costume to stereotype a racist. There are plenty of Native American actors who could have played the role but they were discriminated against and instead a big-name white actor was chosen.
