Just those Lil’ SJW Things: You know, the more I see SJWs complain about Cultural Appropriation,…

Cultural appropriation leads to violence and oppression, because it is dehumanizing. I do not have to be participate in X culture to respect it. I don’t have to know everything about X culture to respect it. I don’t have to take something from X culture to respect them.

But how does cultural segregation not lead to violence and oppression?  By making sure there are strong social divides between cultures and ethnicities, and people saying “I can’t buy/wear/eat/use this, it’s not from my culture” doesn’t that actually stop minorities from being normalised, and maintains/worsens a sense of othering and exotficiation?   There’s a big difference between only experiencing other cultures from a social distance/only seeing it in museums, books and tv shows, and actually experiencing it for yourself.

closed cultures does not equal segregation.

and if the only way an oppressive group can be accepting of cultures that are not their own if they “experience them” then they are still being oppressive. you can respect others without participating and experiencing their life. This doesn’t mean that poc and diversity shouldn’t be depicted in the media, it should (respectfully), but you are still arguing that they only way to protect people is to let others join in. And i think that is wrong.
