I guess that’s just who I am, just full of hypocrisies and what not. Perhaps I did take it to far, but that gives you no excuse to say shit about my friend. What do you find so offensive about her picture. It’s absolutely beautiful. Just someone expressing their own art. Maybe she’s appreciating Native American culture with the picture. You guys say you’ve been treated badly for ages, but being treating other badly won’t solve anything, it just brings more misery.
Her being insulted is not as harmful as her promoting racism against an entire race.
Reducing an entire race to a stereotyped costume to be worn and discarded is not appreciation in any way, shape, or form.
There is a difference between cultural appreciation and cultural appropriation.
Racist art is still racist.
Costumes that attempt to depict a race or culture reduces that group into something comical and an inanimate object. When a group is viewed as subhuman violence and oppression towards that group is inevitable. Turning marginalized groups into racist stereotypes only continues the idea that we are subhuman; promoting the idea that we are subhuman.
