I hate rape as much as the next person, but people on Tumblr are both annoying and stupid about it. I agree that people need to be informed on not raping, but rape will always occur. You are an idiot if you really think that there is a way to get rid of rape completely. And I see a lot of posts...
1. Women who do not wear revealing clothing get raped.
2. And if we included the entire world in rape statistics, I believe you would be proven wrong in your belief that more women who wear revealing clothing get raped.
3. You are siding and defending the rapist, You will deny it but here is how. You are justifying rape by putting blame on the women wearing revealing clothes, rather than putting all the blame on the rapist. By putting some blame on the rape victim you are siding with and defending the rapist.
4. Centrism. You believe that your culture, your beliefs are what is correct, and you are casting it upon rape victims. There are cultures all over the world that are not the same as yours who hold nudity in a different light than yours. In some cultures nudity and or revealing clothing is typical, yet it is not an invitation or justification of rape. But you believe women are shameful and should hide their bodies therefore women who wear revealing clothing have in some way deserved to be raped.
4. Have you ever worn a bathing suit? Has your mother? Your little sister? Your friends? Have you or someone you know ever gone to the beach in their bathing suit? Were you “asking for it” when you wore that bathing suit? No, of course not. You are shaming the victim.
