lakija replied to your post: I really don’t mean to be rude by this but I am wondering, woudn’t it be wrong to call yourself a womanist since you are light skinned? I am hispanic but I don’t have dark skin so I feel like it is wrong to call myself a womanist or even a woman…

This is something I’ve been talking a lot about, lately. I feel like I’m appropriating or stealing something from Black Women or dark-skinned women when I say I’m womanist….but feminism isn’t really my thing either. Kweism? Is that what the ojibwe would be? Kwe, meaning woman.

I don’t know; it isn’t my place to answer either of these questions. I wouldn’t want to invade a safe space but then I also believe that studying the oppression of Black women is essential to any kind of positive change.
