People are judged based off their race, gender, religion etc. White people (especially White men) are the oppressive group and it’s funny to see white men complain about being judged when they are the ones oppressing…
why should oppressed groups be nice to their oppressors? when has being nice ever changed oppression?
You’re not “being nice to your oppressors” by treating fellow human beings with respect. You’re just being a decent person.
I’m not saying that POC and women, and other oppressed groups, should just try to get along with the people who are actively oppressing them. You’re right, that doesn’t accomplish anything. Speak out, get angry, fight back. But fight back against the right people.
What exactly am I accomplishing, how am I helping myself and other women, if I treat men poorly while demanding that they treat me with respect?
you ain’t gonna win them over with respect and niceties. I don’t trust white men; that doesn’t automatically mean I am disrespectful to them. I do not believe I have anything to prove to white men, white men have something to prove to people of color and women of color, and their fellow women. They need to earn respect by proving that they are not trying to hurt us. We do not have to prove anything to them.
