I’m actually legitimately upset about blogs like whyihatewhitepeople and fuckwhites because if it were about black people it would be racist and sad. While I am not a POC, I cannot identify with all the shitty things white people put POC through literally every day. But I can consciously…
gee why would anyone hate their oppressors? hating White people as a power structure is not the same thing as hating every single white person in the world.
but when someone says “i hate white people” it seems like they’re saying “i hate white people” not “i hate the concept of white people holding all the power and not each individual white person”
Can you understand why some people hate all white people? the people who experience racism on a daily basis. Sure there are some white allies, but many white people blame the victim, spout racist things, are ignorant, or just don’t care. White people hurt poc all the time. Not to mention every white person benefits from White privilege. That alone is enough to inspire hatred.
I cannot understand. I have not gone through any of the injustices that POC go thorough. But I am aware that it exists. I also am sickened by the fact that white men hold all the world’s power. I am incredibly ashamed to be a member of a race that rapes, kills, shames, and belittles almost anyone who is not like them. I just dislike when people say “i hate white people” because you are still hating someone for something they cannot change, and isn’t the whole equality movement about NOT hating someone for something they cannot change?
White people CAN change it!
If you refuse to try then you are part of the problem. Don’t cop out by saying it isn’t possible; it is possible. Use your privilege to make changes. Get educated and then educate your people. Not trying is sayin you are find with the way things are.
No no no I TOTALLY recognize it is my responsibility to be educated and informed about racism and to use my own privilege in a positive way to try and change things for POC who disgustingly do not have the same access to the oppurtunities I do. I totally agree with that. I meant that I cannot physically change the color of my skin or the history of my people. I’m sorry, I should have clarified that better.
this is still playing the victim. You do not need to change your skin color. There is nothing wrong with your skin color. What you need to do is be an ally to end oppressive systems against PoC. No one is telling you not to be the skin color you were born with.
