indigenous rising: Reverse racism doesn't exist
It doesn’t exist because there is nothing “reverse” about it. Racism is the dislike of a certain race. White is a race. If you are black and you hate white people, this is not reverse racism… This is racism. Racism isn’t specifically towards people of color. Racism includes…
Racism is the intolerance of a race.
That isn’t even my point. My point it the term “reverse racism” is racist itself. There is nothing reverse about racism. It black people can be racist towards brown people, white people can be racist towards brown people, etc, etc. No matter what it is, it’s still racism.I agree that reverse racism is not a thing; however, I maintain my statement. Racism = prejudice + power, and because White people are the oppressive power that means they do not experience racism. Prejudice is having a bias, a predetermined opinion, about someone just because of their race.
AGAIN, this is not the point I am trying to make.
There are colored people who hold more power than many white people. I hope you know that. You’ve obviously never been in a place where colored people outnumber white people, which is in quiet a few places. (I’m not saying that just because poc are higher in population than white means that there is racism.) Overall, yes, white people may have more power, but it is not the same in all cases everywhere. Saying that someone cannot experience something based on YOUR definition of it is ignorant.
Can you please not use the term “colored people”; it is offensive. That term derives from a time period that used that term as an insult. Having some people of color hold positions of power does not change the fact that White people are the oppressive power; nor does has it changed the fact that institutionalized racism and systematic racism are still set in place.
