can you get a new name from your elders? your born-name is very beautiful but if you feel no connection with it you can always change it (but it may be difficult) may i ask why your sister's name is melissa as well? a friend of mine has the same name as her younger sister, i find it odd

My sister, Melissa, is my adopted sister. I am the youngest of 9 children (by blood) but 12 altogether. Although I do have two brothers named Jim that I am related to genetically. I hate referring to her as adopted though because she is my blood, my life, I never see her through “other” eyes.

I never considered getting a new name, but it is always a possibility.
