White people described in the media are quite often described with reasons why it isn’t their fault, or their intentions, or why we should pity them; while people of color are often portrayed as dangerous criminals with no redeemable qualities. Trayvon Martin, a 17 year old child who was a victim of cold blooded murder, was described as a thug and dangerous. He was the victim, he wasn’t even the person committing a crime and was still portrayed in a negative light to justify his murder.
