So, I know i’m probably going to get hated on because of this, but I don’t see the problem in people adopting styles and traditions from other cultures. As long…

If it’s not your culture then you have no right to wear it.

Which means I can wear… what, then? I don’t know what my background is. I *think* there’s some Spanish somewhere, am I or am I not allowed to wear the vintage mantilla comb that I bought from the local flea market?

Or is it just blue jeans and t-shirts forever for me, oh, wait, I can’t, I’m not American.

How far does this go, exactly?

Stop trying to find some smidgen of blood to justify misusing cultural items. I am Native American, but if I wear a warbonnet, it would be cultural appropriation. I haven’t earned the right to wear one; therefore, if I did wear one I would be appropriating the cultures who traditionally practice the use of warbonnets. I also have a drop of Irish blood, which has nothing to do with my culture at all; therefore even though I have some tiny fraction of Irish heritage doesn’t mean I can steal from their cultures. If it is not your culture do not attempt to dress up as stereotypes of those cultures. It doesn’t matter if you have some “Spanish” blood in you; that doesn’t automatically mean that your culture is in any way Spanish.
