a conversation with the average racist.

indigenous-rising  posting photos of people wearing costume warbonnets is offensive and racist. The warbonnet is a sacred item that must be earned; when worn by someone who hasn’t earned it is to mock and disrespect the cultures that traditionally use them. Sacred items, such as the warbonnet, are not props or fashion accessories.

ittybittymango I am not the photographer, I did not choose to use a warbonnet as a part of her photo shoot. I think that the picture is beautiful and artistic. I am not racist, I merely can appreciate beauty. It is hard to live as naively as you do these days, everything is at everyone’s mercy, so if the worst of your worries is my posting a form of art that offends you? I am truly sorry.

indigenous-rising  It doesn’t matter if you didn’t take the photo and didn’t wear it; you are promoting racism by reblogging it. You are dehumanizing Native Americans and desecrating a sacred item.

ittybittymango   Being on tumblr I see a lot of upside down crosses, or anti-christ promotions. I am catholic, and could care less about what other people reblog. If I find it artistic enough, I may even reblog it. Please stop inboxing me and being a drama queen about something that really is not racist. Crawl out from under the rock you’re obviously living under, and realize that not everything is meant to offend.

indigenous-rising  It doesn’t matter if you are not offended by appropriation. The warbonnet is not yours do with what you will. The cultures that traditional use the warbonnet have advocated that they do not the warbonnet used outside their own cultures. You are disrespecting them and reducing all Native Americans into a stereotype. And desecrating a sacred item.

ittybittymango   Seriously get a life. I’m done.

indigenous-rising  I do have a life; you are trying to dehumanize me. are you proud to be promoting racism against Native Americans? Why do you want to harm Native Americans?

ittybittymango Please do not look at my blog. I do not want to harm anyone, you are overdramatic and clinging onto your roots as an Indian. Get over it.
