I don’t even understand why they would build a statue of him because there is no photograph of him and he wanted it that way. This was probably constructed cuz of pseudo admiration or respect to hide white guilt. If this country wanted to respect Tasunke Witko they would give the Black Hills back to the Lakota and Northern Cheyenne (and any other nations that are tied to Black Hills). If they cared they would remove those fucking disgusting white presidents that desecrate the sacred land . If they wanted to honor Crazy Horse they would help improve the conditions on the Oglala rez. This man gained his fame by fighting to prevent what is actually happening now goddammit!!!! He didn’t whoop white ass to have a fucking statue built for him. He whooped said ass to protect the ways of his people and to protect their freedom and to protect the land. All the millions that went to this could have been used to help the people. If this warrior was alive, he would probably be furious to see this being carved into Paha Sapa while the children of his very tribe are being abducted and assimilated, or while his culture faces appropriation and damage because of white imperialism. The very act of carving the land like that would probably upset him as well.
