to the anon that just asked - because, unlike people who still have a country to go back to, ours is invaded by people who have/had no appreciation to the culture already established here. we don't have a nation to clarify our existence, we have rez's. we don't have a distinct place in the US, because we've been all but run out. so making it clear - the rights and wrongs of the native race, what's fact or false - is VERY important.
Cultural appropriation is harmful to any culture or race. The thing about cultural appropriation is that is dehumanizes us and when a race (or group) is viewed as subhuman violence and oppression towards that group is inevitable.
We have not made it past the times of being viewed as subhuman; we are still viewed as animalistic people-of-the-past. Thanks for the message. Hope anon will stick around long enough to learn something.
