Just wondering if this is a form of cultural appropriation or not: I was on facebook, and I'm college aged. One of my facebook friends invited me to a male strip club, since I'm against them, I decline, but I saw the cover photo and was furious because, although all you see is G-rated, a male chest, he was wearing a cross. The stripper.was wearing.a cross. As a Christian, this really pissed me off because he's taking a holy symbol from my religion and doing THAT?! Wondering if that counts? :S

I couldn’t answer that because I am not Christian. I have read some articles on the subject of religious imagery used for fashion and that is cultural appropriation, in the opinions of the authors. I agree with them. A sacred item being misused is cultural appropriation.

Again, I cannot speak for Christians but I believe that this is cultural appropriation. I have also read about this being called “religious appropriation”. Thanks for the message.
