I have a honest question, and I've been wondering this for a while. Why do the terms "native" and "indigenous" seem to only be applicable to the native peoples of the Americas, North America/United States more specifically? What about the people who are indigenous to other parts of the world? I can't help but feel that if a Black African or a Native Chinese tagged a photo of themselves as "native" or "indigenous" they would get a whole bunch of mean backlash and "you're not native" comments. :-/

When I hear words like Indigenous I don’t assume it only means Native Americans. Some people might think that “Native” and “Indigenous” only refers to Native Americans maybe based on stereotypes? I do not understand why photos of Indigenous people would be insulted.
