asked:
So you are basically my fucking hero at this point, for the articulate and eloquent way you handle yourself and fight appropriation. I also wonder if some of your Anons/ the 'hipster headdress' wearers fully understand the history of nonnatives stealing cultural items from natives. My Tribal Law Prof grew up on the Pine Ridge Rez in the 70s. She had white passing privilege and was the only one in her family allowed in the grocery store. (Continued)
“(Continued from previous ask) Once she went into one of the ‘no natives allowed’ tourist stores and discovered vast amounts of priceless Lakota artifacts, including full skeletons. These were things stolen from the tribe and purposefully kept from them. So Anons/ appropriation defenders this is only one story among thousands of whites taking our cultures (I’m Apache btw) for themselves while deliberately removing us from the picture. So excuse us if we take your appropriation personally.”
Thank you for sharing your story and your experience. <3 And thank you for the support.
