The Warbonnet is a sacred item that must be earned, every feather has a story behind it, and only very few, specific tribes practiced the use of the warbonnet. To steal a sacred (and sometimes religious) item is offensive.

And because the Warbonnet has been used in the media to represent all Native peoples it has become a racial stereotype. Dressing in a costume to depict a race is an act of racism. The people involved in getting this fake Warbonnet and the young man they gave it to are promoting racism, and showing what little regard they have for any Native peoples.
