How dare you say "gypsy" is racial slur. If you called us "gypo" or something ridiculous that's different but we are "gypsies". Do you not understand that? I AM A GYPSY FROM IRELAND. We call ourselves "gypsies", we live on "gypsy" sites, attend "gypsy" fairs and all round refer to ourselves as a gypsy and I'm proud. Why do you have such a problem with this word?
Because that term originated as as a racial slur. Using racial slurs promote racism. There is a Romani community on tumblr and I haven’t seen one of them say that the word G*psy is okay.
I cannot speak for them perhaps you should ask them?
