I agree that just because something is a norm, it doesn't make it right. I was making the point that since everyone appropriates cultural and historical aspects of other races, then everyone is racist, by your definition. You believe you do not appropriate other aspects of others, yet I am fairly certain you have done and continue to do so. You're appropriating the language of my birth, for example, and no one is forcing you to use English. I don't think you're being racist by using English.

NO. White people forced assimilation on Native Americans and PoC. They forced Native people to stop speaking their languages. Do you realize how many languages have been lost to this brutality?
Speaking English is not cultural appropriation. The oppressors are not the oppressed. As a person who is ESL I can speak to how even in modern day America I felt forced to learn this language. White people came and forced, yes forced, assimilation on Native Americans. Part of this racist act was threatening and even killing Native peoples for speaking their own language.
