I was quoting from the article you cited on your 'read first' page. My point really was in saying that 'Cultural Appropriation' is not inherently racist. Racism is the belief in the superiority of a particular ‘race’ and any pejorative discrimination, prejudice or antagonism resulting from such a view. You may dislike the lack of recognition for the symbolism of your cultural icons, and feel that is disrespectful, as I may dislike American English spellings, but those are not racist acts.

Cultural appropriation is an act of racism.

The warbonnet has been used to represent all Native Americans, by Hollywood and the Media. When non-natives wear a warbonnet they are attempting to dress up as a Native American. Dressing up in a costume to depict a race is racist. When a race is turned into a costume, that race is seen as something comical; when a race is seen as something comical oppression and violence towards that race is inevitable. You are promoting the idea that we are nothing but a joke. That is racism.
