His white neighbors threatened to HANG him, literally threatened to bury his children, went to his children’s school, called his 8 year old daughter a whore, and called his 3 year old son a parasite…all of this over a cow?
No.
It’s not even a question of IF a lot of white people or white culture values the lives of animals over the lives of black people - THEY DO.
But it’s not an either/or binary - it’s both: being racist against black people AND valuing animals more than black lives. They go together. One necessarily implies the other.
So let’s cut the BS: if you’re white and cried over Cecil the Lion, but your immediate impulse is to equivocate (or worse, victim blame) when you see innocent unarmed people like Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, Mike Brown, John Crawford, Sandra Bland, Eric Garner, Samuel DeBose or Natasha McKenna get murdered in cold blood, then yes, YOU ARE A RACIST. Period. Because if you can grant the status of “innocent” to animals, but not to unarmed Black PEOPLE who were minding their own business, not threatening anyone, then yeah, you’re racist as hell.

reportslies about why they simply HAD to murder another unarmed black person do not enter into the equation, for exactly the same reason we don’t give equal consideration to a hunter and their “side of the story”)
