glintglimmergleam:

I firmly do not believe any individual should try to “save the world”.  That rhetoric is really damaging – it can make you sound arrogant and self-important to others, and it makes you feel like a failure when you inevitably don’t succeed. Set smaller goals for yourself in your activism.  You won’t save the world by yourself, but you don’t need to save the whole world to change it for the better.  Discover the issues that you’re passionate about, identify your greatest skills and strengths, and put those together to be the best that you can be.  You don’t have to be perfect and you don’t have to be the most innovative or original and you certainly shouldn’t do it all by yourself. You don’t need miracles to move mountains.  Just a lot of hard work and team work.
