becoming an ally has nothing to do with you, yourself; and everything to do with those who you want to act as an ally towards.
Women of Color in america have grown up within a symphony of anger, at being silenced, at being unchosen, at knowing that when we survive, it is in spite of a world that takes for granted our lack of humanness, and which hates our very existence outside of its service.
do u hate white people

If I say “no” you will use that as an affirmation; and would be less likely to do more research about white privilege and racism.
If I say “yes” you will become defensive and use my prejudice as an excuse for your ignorance and racism.
I am not here for you. I do not care about you. How I feel about you should not persuade you either way. You should be doing research about white privilege and racism in an attempt to be an ally and a decent person; you should not be researching these topics to get a sense of acceptance.
We do not need to be reminded that
- not all cis people are bad
- not all hetero people are bad
- not all men are misogynists
- not all white people are racist
We do need to be reminded that
- trans people need to be protected at all costs
- LGBTQIAP+ people are killed and raped for their sexuality so no, heteros do not need to be in queer only spaces
- Women are not equal to men in society and that’s what intersectional feminism is trying to change
- Whitewashing is a huge problem in both education and the media and supporting/ignoring/excusing that fact is supporting racism
…Indigenous claims always transcend colonial disruptions: we were here before all that; we are still here; we will make a future here.
Look, we aren’t here to make friends. Revolutions are not won in please and thank yous. Anger gets shit done.

white people have such a undeserved sense of entitlement. when a person of color refuses to educate their racist ass they announce that it is because they, the white person, is right.
what is important to a culture can be discovered by looking at its language.

hi guys, i’m gonna try something and i need all of y’all’s help for it to work. a lot of you know i’m adopted and know nothing about my birth mom. i’ve heard stories about people putting pictures on facebook with their information and being reunited with family, so i figured, why not. if you could reblog this and encourage your friends to reblog it too, i might have a shot at finding my birth family. i would really REALLY appreciate it, from the heart of my bottom.

too often when white people say they want to celebrate another culture it is self-serving. they want to “celebrate” a culture by taking from it, however authentic or unauthentic, to make themselves look spiritual/accepting/accepted/etc. too often…
1. How do you figure?
2. I’d love to see those.
3. Well, I don’t know about that. Is, for example, Americans appropriating Irish culture racist? Are white people able to be racist against white people? Is it self-loathing appropriation? What even makes appropriation racist?1.) it is more harmful when a person from an oppressive group insults a person from an oppressed group than it is for a person from and oppressed group to insult a person from an oppressive group or person from another oppressed group. When a white person promotes racist stereotypes against X race they are also promoting the dehumanization of that group. When a group is viewed as subhuman violence and oppression against that group is inevitable. White people are the oppressive power. And because they are a power structure those who they oppress have less power; making their actions less harmful.
2. ) My blog is one of those blogs; that messages people about cultural appropriation; however, mine is just one out of very many. I am not going to list those sites because I doubt you will go those sites in an attempt to learn but to abuse; and I will not facilitate that. If you had actually researched cultural appropriation on tumblr you would have found their sites anyways.
3. ) White on white discrimination is not racism. White people can experience discrimination and/or prejudice but they do not experience racism. Irish cultures can be appropriated; which would be an act of prejudice. Appropriation is racist because it takes an entire race and/or culture and turning it into one racist stereotype. To racially stereotype a race is racist; and the disrespect one would have to hold for that race to actually commit appropriation is racist.
1. I think it’s ignorant to make a blanket statement like “white people are oppressive.” White people can be oppressive and they can be oppressed. Privilege and oppression aren’t just these blanket labels you can put on a group. For example, women are not traditionally thought of as privileged but can have female privilege.
2. “I can totally show you, but I won’t.” Boy, you sure convinced me.
3. White people can experience racism. Tumblr likes to to change the definition of racism so they can exclude white people. But that doesn’t change things. Racial prejudice is equally bad no matter who it’s directed at.
“Appropriation is racist because it takes an entire race and/or culture and turning it into one racist stereotype.”
Well, that’s not true. I could go around wearing samurai armor and that would probably be appropriation. But nobody honestly thinks that Japanese people are like that. You are confusing appropriation and stereotypes. Sometimes they can be linked, but they are separate concepts.
There is too much to explain especially with someone who deflects are much as you do.
There is no such thing as female privilege.
White people the oppressive power.
You need to do a lot of research before you attempt to discuss racism and cultural appropriation. You aren’t even close to the level I would want someone who I am having a discussion with to be on. Go research. Good luck.
