While some of the other bloggers on that list were cause for suspicion, you've never once seemed to be anyone other than who you say you are. While some people might not believe you, there are still those who do <3

Answer

I don’t know if anyone else had suspicious behavior I didn’t see it.

i find those posts about 'tainted blood' insulting 'cause some of us who are part white are not by our family's choice. thanks for victimizing our women even more though.

Answer

I can understand how ‘tainted blood’ would be insulting. Some mixed race people might feel a sense of not belonging to either side or either culture and there are those insecure feelings of being unwanted but one must understand why some people feel distrusting of white passing people and white people. These are cultures that are exploited, oppressed, and even fetishized, so not trusting/accepting every person is understandable. My only advice would be to work on accepting yourself and if you are attempting to reconnect with one of your lost cultures then do so respectfully.

I see some people making posts trying to be humourous about being full blood and not having "tainted blood" and I get why given the historical context and all, but it feels gross to me because it feels multi-racial shamey and all too close to the slurs "Half-Breed", "Mutt", etc. Just me or ? :/ I'm wondering if other multi-racial NDN's feel the same?

I haven’t seen those posts so I really cannot give an opinion without seeing it for myself. I can say that I do not like terms like “halfbreed” though.

do u think u are being targetted bc u are white passing?

Answer

No. I think it is hard to trust people in general, and it is not wise to believe every person who says they are Native. I can understand the insecure state some people might be in themselves or just being distrusting after years of being exploited and abused themselves. Too many people exploit Native cultures and peoples.

No idea if you know about this, but I thought I should tell you that "Sagwaaaaa" has posted a list of "fake NDN's" and you're on the list. I've followed you for almost a year now and not once have I seen evidence to suggest you're not who you say you are. Just wanted to let you know what's being said in case you didn't know :/

Thank you for letting me know. Someone else already showed me it. It is sad to see some people hearting that post while pretending to be my friends but it is okay. I can understanding why some people do not trust everyone who says they are Native; I just won’t play the show-your-proof game. I know who I am and that is enough for me.

Stop getting butthurt about what other people wear. Jesus christ. If anyone wants to wear a cross, headdress, nun costume, hijab, pentagram, gold chain…fuck it, who the fuck do you think you are to tell them they aren’t…

I am not taking any hurtful action against you. I am not rallying racism either. I’m not a racist person in the slightest. Human beings are more than the sum of their demographic. I don’t think anyone should be held accountable for their entire demographic, whether it be for good or bad. But bullying people for admiring an aspect of your culture does absolutely no good. If you’re offended fucking teach them what it means to your culture and maybe what it means to you personally and let them form their own opinion. You’re saying you have more of a right than other people do. And when you give yourself rights, you put yourself into a category no one else can be in. We all know segregation leads to narrowmindedness and racism. That is the exact opposite of what you supposedly want, so why not teach instead? Hostility doesn’t foster knowledge.

Admiring a culture, cultural appreciation, is not cultural appropriation. Admiring a culture does not consist of stealing and misusing cultural items.

Having a closed culture, or a culture where one must earn the right to have a sacred item, is not the same thing as segregation.

I am not holding you accountable for what white people have done (though you benefit from what white people have done and do); I am holding you accountable for your own actions. You spoke over Native people, dismissed our feelings and beliefs, disrespected the people from the cultures who practice the use of the warbonnet, and declared that you had the authority to give everyone permission to misuse it. Those are the actions of a racist person.

I have been teaching. I have been attempting to teach you. I have done so logically and calmly, even though I have every right to be angry because you are promoting racism against Native Americans.

You are playing the victim and in denial over your own racist actions. Devote that energy to research cultural appropriation, white privilege, and racism.
